Be able to develop personal presentation and communication skills.

Charlotte Hewins

Objective:
My long term goal in life is to study art and its different mediums and forms, for example, Sketch, Paint, 2D, 3D, Graphics and Photography.  I focus my skills mainly in Graphics, Photography and Sketch.  Hopefully this will lead me into a future job working with Art or possibly even Photography as a career.

Education:
Notre Dame RC School, (NDRC), Plymouth.
English: D Maths: D Science: D Art And Design: C Product Design: C Film Studies: C Media: C

Plymouth College of Art, (PCA), Plymouth.
I completed a level one and two NVQ part-time at PCA and Notre Dame where we studied the different mediums of Art, For example, 2D Sketch, Structure, Graphics, Photography, Paint, 3D & Ceramics, Ink, Paint And many others.  In Level two, I chose to take Photography where I explored the Technical and Creative sides to Photography.  I enjoyed it very much and gained a lot of skills in Photography and communication.

I.C.T: Pass    Project Skills: B     Level 2 NVQ: P

I am currently at PCA doing a Full-time, Level 3 extended diploma course in Interactive Media and Games Art.  I am now in my second year; So far I am enjoying this course and I feel that it will benefit me in the future as I get to work a lot with Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver.

Work experience:
I completed work experience in year ten as a graphic designer of websites.
The time was spent creating mock-up websites.  I was set up challenges making these websites but was asked to create them with-in criteria, for example, sports for kids and music for teens.  I managed to take away some experience of jobs at computers and enjoyed the tasks they set me.

At Notre Dame I did volunteered to do break-time and lunch-time work, assisting students from the SEN department, where I spent break and lunch assisting students around the school.

I’m currently doing a young interview panel with Plymouth City council. Where a group of young people above and below 18 interview potential social workers and gain our own opinion.

I have also been offered the opportunity to do something similar where I speak to university students about my experience with social workers. These students are also potential social workers. This is so we can give pass on our the advice and the experience on having a social worker.

I am currently participating on a project with a company called effervescent volunteering as a young producer for a project called “Fish Hearted Bride”.

My action plan and aims for this year.

I want to include lots of photography, photographic experiments and photo manipulations in the remaining units of this course.

Experiment loads with photography including research, Photographic experiments and ideas.

Critically analyse my Research, Work and experiments. Thoroughly Analyse my work expressing likes , dislikes, further ideas and potential improvements.

My action plan to progress in photography.

During this year I will include a lot more photography and imagery into my work. This will help build my confidence and knowledge of cameras.

Replace college card ASAP so I can use the E.R.C to progress.

Experiment with cameras and equipment and attend a lot of camera inductions to have the chance to be inducted to the more advanced equipment.

Find photography work shops with in the college to help with photography skills and build confidence in that area.

Produce a portfolio full of work produce in the college. Including Traditional, digital and photographic work.

Goals with in the course.

The goal that I have at the end of this course is a very full portfolio with the work that I have created. This will involve a lot of work that I made before I was on this course too. This will be traditional paint work and ink drawings. A lot of my recent work will also be digital manipulations and photos I have started to experiment with digital art and speed painting Via Youtube.

I have also started experimenting with my Video camera and producing some Time lapses.
I hope to be able to make a digital portfolio as well as a traditional one so that people will have access to my photographic work, digital work and my videos.

Personal Statement.

I think I've always really like animation. Although I've never really considered taking the course I do experiment at home with stop motion art and motion tweening in Flash. I think that I just enjoy making funny things that will make people laugh. I'm also always on Youtube watching animations that people have created and applauding their efforts. I think I'd like to become a part of it because it's something I like and appreciate.

I think I enjoy the final outcome the most because I like to be able to create something that people can enjoy as much as myself.

I think I'll be looking forward to developing my stop-motion skills and also with that it will help my photography skills to advance I also want to improve my drawing skills and use them in animation.

I did get quite interested in animation a while back and did quite a bit of research on stop motion with the books provided in Plymouth College of Art's, Learning Recourse Center. Also there was an introduction lecture on Animation in our class room recently.

I'd say I'm just looking forward to exploring it all and developing my skills further, I always liked trying to make all my images move via programs like Flash and After Effects.

I think the skills that I possess that are relevant to the course are definitely my drawing and graphics skills, also my photography skills. I'm also very interested in photography and will someday try to involve it in any career path. I have basic knowledge of photography from doing it in First diploma, I have almost a full understanding of Exposures and Aperture, But my main interests in photography is creativity i.e, Panoramic photography and wide-angle. I also have a lot of knowledge of the Adobe pack, I have my own Graphics tablet for drawing and designing which I also use as practice doing Frame-By-Frame animation on Adobe Flash.

My previous career plans for the future was to be in the art field either that be Photography or illustration.
I think that this would be an opportunity that I'd like to follow as it is something I aspire to doing and covers all of the other things that I also want to do in life.

The only work experience that I have had so far is a one week work experience with Web based Limited doing web design and I'm doing some voluntary work with a company called Effervescent, working on a Theatre production taking place in 2013 at the National Marine Aquarium, I am somewhat in charge of designing their Programme for the show and designing the show paper and gifts.
